Day 1 was a long travel day that started at 1:30am at MRHS meeting the Cape Destinations bus to take us to Logan. We got to Logan by 3:30, got through group check-in, and were ready to board at 4:45 for our 5:15 flight.
We were in Newark by 6:30. This gave us a few hours to get a bite there before getting on the plane for Santiago at 10.
We landed in Santiago at ~3:30pm local time (an hour ahead), and after waiting in the customs lines and getting our bags, we met up with Mateo, our tour manager, and Bejillo, our bus driver, at ~4:30.
The excitement of being in the DR helped the 2 hour ride pass quickly and we arrived at Cabarete Surf Camp ~6:30.
After some time to settle into our rooms, we walked to the Valerio hotel for a wonderful beachside dinner, then headed to an early bed to catch up on sleep.
